Mission
To protect, maintain, and preserve the traditional cultural values and spiritual beliefs for which our ancestors gave their lives;

To assure that these values and beliefs are treated with dignity, respect and integrity within the Tulalip community and surrounding communities;

To keep the cultural and spiritual fires burning for generations yet to come;

The Department of Cultural Resources will act to revive, restore, protect and enhance the traditional cultural values and spiritual beliefs of the Tulalip Tribes.

Activities
  • Exercise our sovereignty right in regard to excavations or disturbances of Tulalip archeological sites.

  • Assist in reburials.

  • Facilitate the work of those who have obtained grants for research into Lushootseed language and culture.

  • Participate in national organizations seeking the implementation of such legislation as the Religious Freedom Act, the National Historic Arts Preservation Amendment and the Repatriation Act, and the Native American Language Act.

  • Provide educational activities, videos, and lessons on traditional history, stories, culture, activities and lifestyles.
